Children wooden toys are toys which are made using a natural product as opposed to a product like plastic which is a product that we are trying to recycle but nevertheless remains a product which costs less to produce new than to recycle.

If a wooden toy is made from a sustainable forest that’s even better as it is actually helping out our troubled environment. This is only one of the reasons we feel better towards wood than towards plastic. Let’s think of a few differences between the two

Plastic toys:

Plastic toys can break easily and the edges could harm the little children. In addition, many plastic toys are mechanized and do a lot on their own without the help of the kid

Plastic toys contain PVC also known as Vinyl which can be harmful to children should they ever put the toy in their mouth. Provided they are not painted with lead based paint which is only likely if it is an heirloom or if it is a cheap foreign import

Wooden toys

Wooden toys are more durable. If you were to stand on a toy truck made of plastic, there is a great chance that it will break, possibly leaving sharp edges that could cut your child; and be fit only for the rubbish.

They, moreover, do not contain any harmful chemicals and do not present any health hazard whereas plastic toys can be full of chemicals that are harmful if the child ever puts the toy in their mouth.

Wooden toys tend to be more passive, which means that the child has to become more involved and this can stimulate their imagination and be more stimulating. A more passive toy may also encourage greater problem solving skills. Another reason is wooden toys can make for a nice decoration for your home when the child outgrows them.

Kids naturally picking up their stuffs or anything that has to do with tidying up their rooms and toys can be quite a headache if the number of them exceeds our expectations.

Parents have to constantly be on their neck to make them keep their rooms clean but don’t you know that you can save yourself some stress by simply getting them a toy box?

Toy boxes are a great way to keep your children entertained and at the same time, get them to make their rooms organized. It will really help you to save some stress.

Put in your mind that having a great toy storage system is one that the children enjoy being part of the organization process. Having a nice place for children to put their toys away isn’t enough.

There are some factors when purchasing storage, like to determine what size of toy box will be adequate for your children. This will be dependent on the number, type, and sizes of their toys.

For your kids it is nice if their storage is easy to open because it will be easy for them to remove whatever toys that they want to play with and efficiently put away this if it’s time to clean up because some are lockable but it is made with plastic so they have idea what is inside the box.

Some storage store created not just for toy boxes but also for home and office because they want to keep the whole house from garage to home office manageable, the box seat range is cleverly designed & packaged to make storage all part of the fun & games.

The box seat was created to complement contemporary interiors while surviving contemporary kids. Their range includes soft knitted sacks & bags, removable chalkboards & letters.

For parents out there, remember that play is an important part of any kid’s life. It allows them to maximize their chance for creativity and play around with their imagination. All along the whole process, they develop a wide variety of skills whether it is physical, emotional, or cognitive.

When buying storage boxes find store that remarkably simple, wonderfully adaptable and easily affordable toy, kid’s storage and home office storage boxes.

Thanks to the new Dinosaur Train TV show, there are thousands of little boys or girls that are learning and getting excited about dinosaurs. The toy Dinosaur Train merchandise will be released by RC2′s Learning Curve soon and kids are waiting anxiously to get their hands on the new dinosaur products from their favorite animated show. This article will discuss 3 popular picks that all little kids are getting very excited about.

1. T-Shirts and Apparel: Dressing fashionably as a toddler means wearing a t-shirt with your favorite character, such as Buddy, Tiny, Shiny or Don, on the front. In the first few episodes of the show, kids are introduced to these dinosaur characters and they quickly learn their names, species and start to relate to them and understand their personalities. Making friends at day care or preschool might be a lot easier when kids can comment on a Dinosaur Train T-shirt and start a conversation about their favorite characters.

2. Figurines: Kids love to make believe, pretend or act out scenes about their favorite TV shows. With the exciting new show, kids will love the character figurines that they can move and pose. As they learn language skills they will pretend to have long conversations between the figurines, and some will make believe that the characters are singing the songs from the show as they ride the dinosaur train and go on exciting adventures.

3. Train Toys: You have probably heard of “Thomas the Train”, now get ready for the “Dinosaur Train”. Kids will play with a train filled with toy dinosaurs that travels through the Jurassic, Triassic, or Cretaceous time periods. Their favorite characters, Buddy, Tiny, Shiny and Don, will jump on board and discover and learn about new dinosaur species. Kids will spend hours playing with these toys as there are countless stories to be told and hundreds of new adventures just waiting to begin.

What are the best educational toys for kids? The toys should also teach common everyday life lessons, things that are going to be useful to your child in their early years. Things like the alphabet and numbers are lesson they will need early on.

The thing about kids is that they are very inquisitive and hungry for knowledge. If they can get that knowledge in a fun way it will stick with them for a long time. That is what shows like Sesame Street does so well and way it is so successful. Toys that educate should follow that same rule and they will be more beneficial for your child. Think of it like this, toys that educate combine two things that kids love, playing with toys and satisfying their hunger to learn. So lets take a look at some of the best educational toys for kids.

One toy that has a fun way of teaching the alphabet and numbers to your toddler is the “Learning Home” from Fisher Price. This is a playhouse your child can craw through that plays traditional sing-a-long songs your child will love to sing and learn from. Another one of those great learning toys for toddlers is the “Learning Table” from LeapFrog. This toy also teaches the alphabet and counting, but it also teaches kids about colors and shapes. These are all things kids should know about.

Melissa and Doug’s Deluxe Standing Easel will give your child a taste for art while at the same time keeping your walls and floors from becoming all market up with crayons and markers. This toy will expose your little ones to different art mediums in their on little area. Just imagine your little tykes doing their finger painting on their own little pad instead of your walls.

There are a lot of educational toys out there, but these are a few of the best educational toys for kids. You should always make sure that the toys you get your child are safe for them whether it’s educational or not. Don’t underestimate the power of toys that educate. Learning toys can give your child a head start on their education and give them skills that they will need in life.

Soft toys and stuffed toys are very popular with parents and they usually buy these toys for their children. Stuffed toys or soft toys are made from cloth sewn together. This cloth can be plush or any other soft but strong fabric. Then this cloth is filled or stuffed with straw, synthetic fibers, clothes, and cotton or rubber pallets. This filling gives the toy its shape. Due to this these soft toys are called stuffed toys.

These soft toys are made in many different forms like animals, cartoon characters, fiction characters, or story characters which kids study in books or listen from their teachers. Soft toys are a great gift to small kids and minors. The first and most important reason is that they are not dangerous. A soft toy with nothing hard attached to it provides kids with a plaything that doesn’t have any potential to cause harm. As the toy can be in the form of famous characters which the child already knows, they can be happy to play with the character for hours on end, and they can be a perfect for helping a child develop his imagination.

When purchasing a soft toy, make sure you choose one which has an EU safety sticker on it. This makes sure that the toy has been created with adequate safety concerns in mind. Poorly constructed toys including soft toys can be a danger to children, from pieces that come free and become a choking hazard to stuffing which could cause suffocation.

Soft toys such as Pebble toys are equally popular in romance. A research shows that after roses the second most common valentine`s day gift is a soft toy. Many women like to have soft toys in their bedrooms and also use them as decoration. Men like them because they’re an easy gift to get! Ensure that when you are buying a soft toy as a love token that is will be appreciated – not every woman is going to be happy with a four foot bunny rabbit. Scout around her house when you are round to see if she already has any soft toys, and then you will be able to tell if she would appreciate such a gesture.

Soft toys are even used as decorations in cars and can be used as mascots for companies or given out as prizes. Soft toys come in different sizes from small to over four feet.

Gentle, soft toys are the best type of playthings for babies. The fact that soft toys are adorable, cuddly and tender makes it safe for the infants and babies. Even as children grow, soft toys are their constant companion. This is especially true for girls. They talk, laugh and go to bed with these toys by their side.

Toys, without doubt play an elemental part in the child’s growing years. Soft toys are the favorite of babies and children because of the cuddly feeling they offer. When we say soft toys, the image that immediately spring up in our minds is that of a teddy bear. However, there are many other soft toys apart from teddy bear that are available in the market today.

Soft toys for babies are nowadays made by hand and available in many types of materials. They are available as soft books, play sets and soft blocks. Soft toys are safe for infants, small babies and for children of all ages. Premium quality soft toys are made of high grade, tested materials and are completely non-toxic. Parents do not have to worry about babies biting into these toys during their teething phase as the materials and fabrics used are safe and non-hazardous.

There are many advantages of buying soft toys for your baby. As they are mostly made of fabrics, they can be easily washed when they become dirty. Being light weight and without any sharp or hard parts, they are the best toys for infants and babies. Handmade toys tend to be less expensive than factory made toys. You can get more number of soft toys for your baby in a small budget.

Soft toys, if taken care of properly can last for many years and can retain their excellent condition as well. As they are mostly devoid of any mechanical or electronic parts, there are no issues of malfunction or breakdown that you will ever face with soft toys. It is common to see soft toys handed down to younger children of the family because of the ability to maintain these toys in the new, original form.

Babies being born today are still being given these traditional wooden toys that even my grandparents were playing with. The log cabin kits were my personal favorite wooden toys. You could play with Barbie or Polly Pocket after building different sized cabins. You were definitely missing out if you have never gotten to play with Lincoln Logs! The assortment of different sized miniature wood logs in these kits could be stacked on top of one another because of their specially designed notches at each end of the logs. The notch is really just a deep groove that allows the other log to sit perfectly into it.

These wooden toys were invented back in 1916 but they weren’t mass produced to the public until about 1918. While most people assume these classic toys were named after former president, Abraham Lincoln, they were actually named after the inventor’s father’s middle name! Inventor, John L. Wright, got the design of the Lincoln Logs by looking at an earthquake proof basement structure in Tokyo. All the way up until about 1970 all of the logs included in the kits were wood, but that soon changed. Most manufacturers switched over to plastic because it was cheaper but there are just a few manufacturers left that only produce wooden logs.

Educational wooden toys were also popular at my childhood day care and pediatrician’s office. While at day care I would play with the wooden tic tac toe board, and another wooden toy that had you match up wooden shape pieces into shapes set into a wooden block. Building blocks were also considered a type of educational toy so those were always around too. The building blocks were a little cooler than the Lincoln Logs simply because you weren’t restricted to one or two designs. You could make homes, castles, bridges and many other things with the building blocks.

There are some kits out there for those of you who want more design potential. A variety of homes, including Appalachian homes, can be built with these kits. You may be able to find some classic wooden toys like these in local retail stores but most of these kits can only be found online at certain retailers. You should start looking online though if you want the best selection with these wooden log and building block toys.

There is a lot more to this hobby than just buying a couple of train toys to push around on a makeshift track. Instead, you need to consider everything from the materials from which the tracks are made to the locomotives, cars, wiring, power-pack components, and whether or not to purchase complete kits or buy each item separately.

One of the first things to consider is the scale. The most popular scales are O scale and HO scale (half-zero). O scale is 1:48 scale while HO is 1:87 scale. However, smaller and larger scale models are also available. The main consideration here is your availability of space. If you plan to fit your layout on a 4×8 piece of plywood, HO scale is a great choice for that. If you have more space and more money to spend, O scale is a great choice. There are lots of accessories available for either HO or O scale.

Another decision to make is whether to buy a complete kit or individual components. Kits are recommended for beginners because they provide the essential items at an affordable cost. The downside of buying individual components is it will cost more money and take more time to put it all together. However, for more serious model train hobbyists, buying individual components is recommended because it allows you to upgrade and customize your selections, making your set uniquely yours and totally awesome! Kits typically include standard quality items, which are okay for beginners but maybe not okay for more serious railroaders.

For the cars, as long as they are the same scale as your track, you really cannot go wrong. Buy the ones you like the best and have fun collecting unique and interesting cars.

One of the most important model train features is the track. Tracks have rail heads, which are made from three basic materials, brass, nickel-silver and steel. However, there are really just two choices here because brass is being phased out by most manufacturers and is already hard to find in hobby shops. The best and cheapest place to find brass track is in garage sales. So your remaining choices are nickel-silver and steel. Nickel-silver is the easiest to find and most commonly used. It is very popular because it is slower to oxidize, which means less maintenance and less cleaning. Steel has the advantage of looking the most realistic but it has the disadvantage of rusting faster and getting dirty faster. So if you want that awesome look that steel offers, you have to be willing to work harder for it.

When looking for track, look for a code on the track packages. This number relates to the height of the rail. The most commonly used track code is 100 on the HO scale. Model train enthusiasts often use lighter rails or those below 100 as an alternative to achieve a more realistic appearance.

Another important component is the locomotive. Here the choices are diesel versus steam engines. Steam locomotives are very fun because of the loud train sounds and smoke but are typically more expensive than diesel. Diesels are typically available as either 4-axle or 6-axle. Your choice here depends partly on the twists and turns of your track layout. For HO track, a 4-axle diesel requires a minimum track radius of 18 inches while a 6-axle diesel requires a minimum track radius of 22 inches.

Lastly, consider your electrical needs. You will not only need a power-pack but also wires to keep your train up and running. Different trains require different types of power. Most experts agree that HO locomotives pull between 0 to 15 volts DC at .5 or more amp, though adding extra amps is always a good investment. Invest in colored wires to make wiring that much easier.

In the US, toy horses were made as early as the 17th Century, by fathers in their workshops as gifts for their children. These were generally simple toys and the rocking mechanisms came later. In Europe, bow horses were made from around 1750 and rocking horses on a swing stand were made from around 1880. The dates are similar for the US.

An antique rocking horse from Europe is very different than one from America. The American ones are often called ‘folk art’ antique horses. The designs are simple and the manes and tails are usually made of horsehair. If there are saddles and reins left they will be leather. Some were painted and some were polished or left natural.

European horses, especially British ones, mostly date from approximately 1870-1920. Again, the manes and tails were made of hair, and the tack was leather, often fixed by brass fastenings. They were usually painted. They do not often have a manufacturers name on but some do, and the three biggest manufacturers were Collinsons (1836-1993), F H Ayres (19th Century and early 20th Century) and Tri-Ang Lines, who also made hide covered rocking horses.

So how do you know the horse you are looking at is an antique rocking horse? First, it’ll look old! But be careful! Old can be faked. You need to know where to look. First, look at the delicate parts of the horse – ears, bottom of the face, around the eyes and the legs. Most importantly, look at the seat. An antique rocking horse should have signs of wear, not only in the paintwork, but also worn wood in the places the saddle has rubbed. Also, the reins may have rubbed around the neck.

Secondly, the tack. On an antique rocking horse this is almost always leather. A carved and painted saddle is unusual on a true rocking horse. Make sure the leather is worn. Again, especially look at the saddle seat. A European one will probably have brass studding on it to fix it, but this is not always the case. Nails and other metal fixings can be artificially rusted so be careful.

Thirdly, the mane and tail on an antique rocking horse will almost always have been real horse or cow hair. If you find one with a carved mane, it is probably newer than you thought.

There are some very excellent companies who make reproduction horses and these should not be confused with a fake antique horse. If you do your research, check some pictures on the internet, and buy from a known dealer you should not have any problem and will enjoy your antique horse.
